As K.E. Hayes, I write romance, upmarket fiction, chick lit, fantasy, mystery, sci fi, and contemporary fiction. I also publish new adult romance under a pseudonym.

A native Californian, I call Rhode Island and New York home these days. I'm obsessed with both of my adopted states—no one does a party like New York, and don't get me started on coffee milk (aka ambrosia from heaven)—but a Pacific beach is still my peaceful place.

AFK, I drink my weight in coffee, kill plants in my garden, and renovate my 19th Century house via tiny baby steps. I also love taking Violet and Tako on adventures around New England and Upstate New York. We especially enjoy hikes and beach days and finding local bookstores. 

Tako P. Dog was born on September 25, 2013. We know this because his foster had the breeder paperwork when we adopted him. Back then, black pugs weren't exactly stylish, so the young kid who bought him actually got a discount on the breeder fee. It boggles the mind.

Tako found his way to us when my S..O. at the time went outside for a cigarette and came back in with a pug puppy. That night, Tako slept curled around my head on my pillow, and I decided he could never leave.

​

Tako's favorite things are beach walks, his lambie toy*, cheese, and snuggles.

*Right now, we have Lambie XI. Lambies I - IX died disgusting, well-loved deaths. Poor Lambie X was ripped to shreds by Violet on her first day with the family. RIP

Lady Violet Banisher of Shadows and Smiter of the Unjust was born in Arkansas in 2024. Beyond that, we don't know much about her scary beginnings, other than that a rescue spotted her and her brother in a high-kill shelter. I saw her little face on the website, and I knew she was family.  

​

Violet joined us on December 6, 2024—a day that shall live on in infamy. On her first day, she found Tako's lambie toy and proceeded to rip it apart and eat the innards.... all in front of Tako. He's never been the same.

​

She's part blue heeler and all chaos demon.
